Vegetable Plant Families

Vegetables fit into nine major family groups (9 is a miscellaneous group). These will be important to know once your garden is up and running, to ensure correct 'crop rotation' which avoids build-up of pests and diseases.

3. Carrot family - Apiaceae (Umbelliferae)

 

 

Daisy

4. Daisy family - Asteraceae (Compositae)

5. Marrow family - Cucurbitaceae

 

Onion

6. Onion family - Alliaceae

 

 

Peas & Beans

7. Pea and Bean family - Fabaceae sub-family Papilionaceae (Leguminosae)

 

Potato
